Snowmageddon

So, this is what the end of the world looks like.  We have blizzard conditions with 45 mph winds and we're expecting 8-12 inches today.  When it's all over, we'll have over 45 inches of snow.

Here's a few more photos.  They don't even begin to show what this actually looks like.  I just keep looking out the window and shaking my head.  It is absolutely amazing.

This is the sidewalk and snow trail leading from my front door.

This is what I see out my back door.  The snow is almost up to the top of the deck railing, which is 5 ft tall.

This is what I see when I'm sitting on my couch.  The snow is higher than the couch in the picture.  Ignore the pile of trash, we can't get to our trash can so we've been piling it outside the door.  I know, it's classy.

Snow piled up on grill and trash can

This is DH trying to get to his car.  He's 6 ft tall and the snow is up to his mid-thigh.

View of my neighbor's cars.  The snow piles from shoveling and plowing are taller than the cars.

And, since we're stuck in the house, of course I've been taking pictures of the kids.

OMG - Seriously?!

We officially got 32 inches of snow on Saturday.  32 inches!  That's the most snow I've EVER seen in my entire life!  It is insane.

And, now?

10+ inches coming tonight.

I am SO, SO ready for spring!

30 inches and counting

Blizzard of 2010

Started snowing yesterday at 9:30 am and will continue until at least 6:00 pm tonight.  We've been averaging an inch an hour with some bands coming through and producing 2-3 inches/hour.

Unbelievable.

Twin Boppy?

April at StrongBlonde asked what the pillow bed was that the twins were sleeping on in my last post.  It's actually a homemade twin boppy using my Snoogle pregnancy pillow.  I was using the Boppy newborn loungers but the twins are both too tall for them now and started to slide off the bottom.  One day, I ran downstairs to change out the laundry while they were sleeping and when I came back up, Christopher was almost sliding off on to the couch / floor.

So, I took my Snoogle and wrapped it around one of the loungers. That created the shape and gave a little support in the bottom. And then I took a crib sheet and wrapped it around to keep everything together.  So far, it has worked fabulously! I searched and searched on-line and couldn't find anything comparable to the newborn loungers that was big enough for twins.

I also wanted to have something where the twins could sleep together and touch each other (getting back to my fear of them missing out on bonding earlier).  When they layed on the loungers by themselves, they were on seperate pillows and never could reach out and touch each other.

DH thinks we could be millionaires with my new invention.  Do you think the "Sham-Wow" guy would sell it for me?  :)
