At 1:00 am, Kendall woke up crying. She said she had poo poo but there was nothing there. I changed her Pull Up anyway and put her back in bed.
She woke up again at 2:45 am. This time she said her ear hurt and she was putting her finger in her right ear. I brought her downstairs and tried to get her settled back down. She had a runny nose last week and she NEVER complains about her ears. Actually, she hardly ever wakes up at night at all.
She seemed a little congested so I gave her some Children's Claritin (ok'd by my pediatrician) and some Tylenol. I finally got her settled back in bed at 4:00 am.
I kept her home today but she seemed fine all day. No fever and when I asked, she said her ear felt better. And, let's face it. We were both exhausted from being up all night.
Alright, now for tonight's bedtime saga.
We started baths a little later tonight (7:45 pm) and followed the same routine as last night, tucking the kids in at 8:15 pm.
I decided it was Daddy's turn to watch the monitor tonight so I'm sitting downstairs in the family room, directly beneath the kids' room.
It's now 8:33 pm and I hear laughing, drawers slamming and possibly some jumping on the bed(s). I have not heard Daddy get up to go in their room at all.
We clearly have different styles when it comes to bedtime and our tolerance levels. I'm sitting down here literally biting my tongue.
8:38 pm - things seem like they are quieting down up there. I can still hear them talking but the rambunctious behavior seems to be settling down.
8:44 pm - it sounds pretty darn quiet up there. It might be time to make my move upstairs to
Here's to hoping that we all get 8 consecutive hours of sleep tonight!

Oh this comes in waves for us. A few days of doing well, then a few days of chaos. A few days of easy (easier...) sleep followed by a few days of them staying up until 10(!!!). I wish I had a magic answer, but we sure haven't found it over here.
My husband I have pretty much decided that 30-ish minutes of play in the room is OK. Short of strapping them down to the bed, I dont know what else to do. And constantly going in there just seems to excite them more....
I remember that (although we weren't twins) my brother and I used to share a room and we would stay up for hours talking. It drove our Mom crazy. (Dad seemed much more tolerant of it...). My brother and I turned out fine and I have some really great memories of my childhood.
I had forgotten all about that until I started responding to your post.
I'm going to try to remember that when I start to lose my patience with them and all the horseplay at night. I hope it gets better for you!
