"I Don't Like You"

I think that's what Kendall is saying to her brother every time I try to sit them next to each other.

With Kendall's hospital stays, I've been worried they missed out on some very important bonding time. I don't know if there is a specific time that is best with twins but, I would assume it starts in the womb and is supposed to continue after birth.

From the time they were born, they have been apart.  In the NICU, they were in seperate isolettes.  And, then Kendall was in the hospital for 2 weeks and then 3 weeks later, for another 3 weeks.

Since I've been home with them, I have tried to lay them beside each other to see if they would interact.

They don't. At all.

Now, I know they are still really young (2 months adjusted age) but it still worries me.  Within a few minutes, one of them starts crying (usually Kendall) and they act like they want nothing to do with each other.

Mothers of twins, when did your twins start interacting with each other?

My twins didn't start noticing each other until they were about 5 months old. For the first five months, I wondered if they even new that the other one existed. Now they are nine months old and they are crawling all over the house. One will follow the other and get into all kinds of things. They laugh at each other and so on. I wouldn't be worried. BTW I have girl/boy twins. Hope this helps.

I'm not a mother of twins but have had several friends with twins & nannied for twins before my daughter came along... I think it was later on (like around 5-6 months) that the twins would interact. I wouldn't worry! :)

I don't know the answer to your question, but I just wanted you to know I was checking in you and the little ones!

I think my twins were probably at least 5 months old before they started noticing each other. Your twins are very normal in their behavior toward each other at this stage, so you don't need to be concerned!

HA! LIke 5 or 6 Months! They can barely even see each other right now and don't know what the other one is anyway! Quit worrying, it will all be OKAY! LOL!

found your blog through andrea's...

i think that our twins SOMETIMES know about eachother. they are 17.5 weeks actual/12 weeks adjusted. they seem to be surprised when they see someone next to them at times.

i was drawn over to your blog because 1) you have twins and 2) you said something about your kids eating 6 oz and i wanted to ask you about it. :) are they really eating 6 oz and how often??? breastmilk? formula? are they ever breastfed? i'm beginning to wonder if i'm totally starving my kids.

Ha,

Well, my 16 yr old Daughter still throws a fit when she is around her twin brother, LOL.

Actually, I didn't see them really "respond" to each other until they were coo-ing, and grasping for things, they kept each other entertained.

My Daughter refused her pacifier, until she was able to reach into her brothers mouth to steal his.
