More Milestones and The Battle of the Chunks

I'm a proud Mama today.

My SIL called me around noon and said "Oh my God"!  She never really calls me at work so my first thought was "Crap. What's wrong"?

Christopher took his first steps!  He was standing at her back door playing with the shutters and she called him to come back to her.  Her turned around and took 4 steps without falling down!

Wait!  There's more!

About 5 minutes later, Kendall crawled for the first time!  She said, "Back off big brother!  I can show off too"!

I'm excited at their accomplishments and so, so proud of them!

I also started introducing 3rd and finger foods a few weeks ago.  Christopher took to it right away and can easily eat the Gerber Puffs, banana and basically anything I give him.

Kendall, on the other hand, has quite the gag reflex.  She'll take one bite and start gagging.  Sometimes throwing up.  Once she gags, she refuses to eat any more and either pushes the spoon away or clamps her mouth shut.  I've tried all different flavors of food of varying "chunkiness".  She gags every time.

She did fine with all of the pureed 2nd foods.  I always give them a few Puffs while I'm getting their food together for dinner.  She will pick them up and even puts them to her mouth.  But, as soon as it hits her tongue, she pushes it back out again.

Has anyone experienced this and did you find anything that helped?  I know she'll eventually outgrow it but I feel horrible for her every time. I don't want meal time to turn into a dramatic ordeal where she doesn't want to eat.

omg. she sounds just like my son. he acts like i'm trying to kill him with anything that i put in his mouth to try to encourage finger foods. my daughter will eat anything that she can feed to herself. my son? no way.

...no advice yet. just glad to hear about some other kids that are my kids age with the same type of issue :) i'll be checking back to see if people have some ideas.

Sorry, no advice on the gagging, but way to go kiddos!! I love watching my Aaden walk, it makes me so proud and then right behind him comes our speed crawler, Noah. Got to love how twins do things at their own pace. :-)

No advice but I have the same problem with Eloise with 2nd foods no less. I don't know what to do. Some days she's fine, others it's projectile vomit all over.

Hi Suzanne (that's my middle name). I'm enjoying finding new blogs by clicking the "next blog" tab at the top of my blog. Sometimes I end up in strange places, and sometimes I end up in nice places. I was happy to find your blog. :)

Infertility hasn't been an issue with me - I've given birth 9 times! My lot in life seems to be suffering through loss - as I've been called to surrender three of those nine to heaven.

That's wonderful that you were blessed with twins! What fun - a blessed handful huh? :)

Well, I better run, but I just wanted to tell you that it was very nice to meet you!

Have a beautiful day - and enjoy your sweeties.
