We went to the beach for a few days over 4th of July weekend. My parents bought a house just outside of the Outer Banks, NC and I have to say, it was awfully nice to not have to pay to rent a place this year. My sister, BIL and their 2 kids as well as my step brother and his fiancee also came down.
It was a full house with 4 kids under the age of 4!
The kids did great on the car ride down. We only had to stop for lunch and still made it within 5 hours. We got there around 2:30 pm and immediately changed into our bathing suits so we could enjoy the pool.
I was hoping the kids' attitude toward water would change but nope. Both were pretty apprehensive. Kendall tends to be the more adventurous one and she started to relax after about 10 minutes. Christopher, on the other hand, clung to my husband like there were sharks in the water.
We ventured to the beach on Saturday and man, was it hot! Poor Kendall still doesn't like the sand on her feet. She would not move off the blanket for anything.
Christopher took right to the sand again and had a great time playing.
"Oh, now I have a snack cup and everything is just fine".
It was close to 90 degrees that day and I was worried about the kids getting too hot so we only stayed about 3 hours. It was even unbearable sitting under the umbrella.
On the 4th, we took the kids to a local playground so they could get some exercise.
That night, we let the kids play with glow sticks as their "fireworks". This is Chris playing with his older cousin.
Hoping everyone is having a wonderful summer so far!

Is that a halo above C's head at the playground :)... j/k I know it's his hair.
Can't blame K. for staying on the blanket - If it's anything like here, that sand must be very hot. Plus a girl has to keep between her toes sand-free.
But hey... it's still yeah! for a beach vacation.
Best wishes,
Anna
That looks like so much fun! The cutie pies had a great time!
We are doing a beach vacation in a couple of months... and that brings me to a question for you! Now that your kids are a little older - (I remember you sleep trained them?) how do they adapt to new sleeping condition and change in schedules? Just curious as to what is up for us in the next few months.
looks like an awesome trip! i love that area.
you are so much more adventurous than me!! when it's 90+ i freak out and we go back inside after only an hour. i'm so worried about heat stuff! we've rented a house in august up north with no AC and i'm TERRIFIED!
awesome pics. the kids are HUGE! and cute :)
Love the pictures. It looks like you had a great time!
