STOP! Hamma Time!

So, I think I guaranteed a spot for Mother of the Year this weekend.

Over the last 2 weeks or so, I noticed the kids' shoes were starting to get a little tight.  At least once per week, I would do the "push the toe in" test to see how much room was left.  For the most part, they still seemed like they had room but they were getting tight across their foot.

We took a trip to Stride Rite on Saturday and I told the clerk they were currently wearing size 4.5 but I wanted to measure their feet because I thought they were probably a 1/2 size too small.

Maybe a whole size, at the most.

Yeeeaaah.  W-R-O-N-G!

They both needed a size SIX!  I think my jaw literally dropped when I saw the measurer thing.

How horrible am I?  My poor kids have been walking around with their toes all scrunched up in their shoes.

My kids are gonna have HAMMER TIME!

It's no wonder they take their shoes off as soon as we get in the car!  I always hear them saying "Not nice" in the back seat and now I think they are saying it to ME!

"Can you believe this, Christopher?  This lady just won't buy us new shoes.  Man, this sucks.  We're trying to run around the playground and look!  I have corns!"

"You're tellin' me Kendall.  NOT NICE"!

Hahaha..just stumbled your blog and you made me think of the time I spend a little extra on some really cool shoes for my son. Size 5. I thought, it's okay, because he'll be a 5 for awhile and we'll get lots of use out of them. THEN not to long later (maybe a few weeks at most) I have his foot measured and he's a bloody 7!!! His feet were all scrunched up in there. NOT NICE!!
I still feel guilty about it. Mother's guilt is wonderful.

Eh, if that's the worst thing you do, I think you're golden. :) My daughter was wearing a size 3 when we walzed into Stride Rite and left with a size 4.5. It happens. :)
